#MayIsTrans in the DMV! And here at Sexual + Being, we highlighted some amazing trans voices. Activist Taylor Lianne Chandler polled her diverse community about what think defines “good sex.” And Xemi Manibusan Tapepechul, a two-spirit, non-binary transgender woman, talked about why sex between trans people can be so beautiful — and so important.
Here’s what else we talked about this April! Follow us on IG and Twitter and then check out these May highlights.
How have we NOT mentioned that May is National Masturbation Month? Here's a great piece from @hd_tsd about leaving space for your partner's pleasure outside of sex with you you #dcbeings #selfpleasurehttps://t.co/elNBrH7Tgu

Taking PrEP is not that deep – it's is an easy and effective way to double up on protection against HIV (along with regular condom use 🍆) When taken consistently, it becomes just another part of your regular routine.

And here are our three favorite sex positive culture moments of May:
1. Taiwan legalized same-sex marriage
In the end of the month, Taiwan became the first country in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage. The photos of the thousands of marriages that took place the day marriage became legal are sweet, touching, and beautiful.
2. The US House passed the Equality Act
On May 17, the US House passed the Equality Act, which grants protections to LGBTQIA+ people in housing, work, public accommodations, and other areas. The bill was first introduced in 2015 and will add on to existing federal laws that protect people on the basis of race, religion, sex, and disability. And while the bill is unlikely to pass the Republican-held Senate, it is the first time a federal bill for LGBTQIA+ rights has passed in either chamber.
3. Season 2 of Fleabag
Basically everything about Season 2 of “Fleabag” should make it onto this list. We don’t want to give away spoilers, but here are some sex positive tidbits to tempt you into marathoning this excellent show on Amazon: a (super) hot priest; a young feminist woman who has sex for a range of reasons; and erotic art. Enjoy.
