As the world starts to “open up” again after a year and half stuck inside and at least six feet away from each other, our relationships with our bodies are understandably complicated. On the one hand, we’re still here — when so many aren’t. On the other hand, many of us have watched our bodies shift and change since hunkering down in March 2020. And with the summer season fully upon us, a lot of us are asking: What do I do with this body?
To explore the issue of how we relate to our bodies, Sexual + Being shared the work of three very different women. One: A Black woman talking about the dual body image standards she’s had to deal with because of her race. Two: A trans woman went deep on what it felt like to grow up in her “male” body and into her “female” one. And, three: A mom talks about the surprising ways anxiety can affect your body. Check them out, follow us on IG and Twitter, and then enjoy these top three social posts from July.
